Flat screen televisions playing, music pumping, and conversation humming. Clippers buzzing and scissors snipping become ambient noises in the background in the lively and atmospheric Country Club Barber Shop.
The Country Club Barber Shop opened seven months ago on Feb. 28, according to the owner, Wylie Avignion, and has since has picked up momentum and popularity with customers and expanded with a site in Fallbrook.
“Barbering used to be more of a social gathering…we try to bring those old traditions back,” Avignion said.
The popularity of the barber shop is arguably due to the mood of the establishment.
The workstations are all made of wood, the chairs appear vintage, the art on the walls induce a feeling of a traditional barber shop, and of course there are barber’s poles present.
“They’re my brothers and my sisters… these are my family,” said Avignion in reference to his employees.
One immediately feels welcome in the shop due to the laid-back attitude of the staff. “Stop listening you guys,” joked Avignion when asked how he would describe his employees, followed by a chuckle from the crew.
Even more welcoming is the adorable and massive door greeter, Hero, the dog, who is always eager to meet customers and have a pat to the head.
The welcoming nature of the shop has caused a following of regulars who repeatedly visit The Country Club Barber Shop for their needs, be it a haircut, trim or a shave.
