Palomar’s faculty is still looking for answers.
Although a packed crowd of faculty turned out last week to Palomar’s monthly Governing Board meeting demanding answers, the elected, five-member board did not elaborate on why they choose neither of the two candidates publicly vying for the job of Palomar’s next president. In a closed session, the board decided to conduct a new search last year to replace the former president who retired last June.
Faculty Senate Chair Greg Larson, who also served on the failed hiring committee, had lobbied faculty through email to attend the Dec. 8 governing board meeting and demand a reason why the search failed.
Many spoke at the meeting but no one got answers, according to Larson.
In Larson’s own words: “Several people did address the board, but that’s about it.”
