BASEBALL
Conference play has begun for Comets baseball.
As of March 3, their overall record is 6-11, and 2-1 in conference play. Their batting average is .288, with an on-base percentage of .410.
The team’s conference wins came from a 5-2 victory over Grossmont, and a 3-0 shutout over Southwestern.
Their next game is at 2 p.m. on March 10. They play Imperial Valley at home.
BASKETBALL
Men’s basketball finished third in the conference, losing 81-80 against Citrus in the first round of playoffs.
Their overall record was 20-9, and 11-5 in conference play.
The women’s team wrapped up conference play 10-2, and as of March 4 improved its overall record to 26-3.
They faced Glendale in the second round of playoffs on March 7. For the results, visit https://palomarathletics.com.
MEN’S GOLF
Palomar men’s golf completed preseason play on Feb. 24 at the Riverside City College Invitational, where they had a team score of 381 and placed sixth out of 17 schools.
The Comets’ best finish this year so far was the Cuyamaca Classic on Feb. 19. They placed third out of 10 colleges, with a team score of 372.
The team starts conference play at 10 a.m. on March 9 at Victor Valley College.
TENNIS
Men’s tennis has yet to win a game this season. As of March 3, the team sat at 0-8 overall.
Their next game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 10 at home versus Glendale.
The women’s team improved its record to 4-2 on March 3 with a 6-3 win over Imperial Valley. This victory pushed the Comets’ conference record to 3-1.
Their next home game is at 2 p.m. on March 12 against Southwestern.
WOMEN’S BEACH VOLLEYBALL
So far, the women’s beach volleyball team is split 1-1 in play overall.
In their season opener, the Comets conceded their first match 4-1 to Rio Hondo. They came back to win their second matchup against Santa Ana 3-2.
The Comets play MiraCosta in their first conference game. It is scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 20 at Warm Waters Beach, Carlsbad.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Men’s volleyball dropped its first three games of the season, as of March 3.
The team’s first conference game begins at 6 p.m. on March 11 at home. The Comets’ opponent is San Diego Miramar.
