Club Rush showcases student diversity, interests and hobbies

Some of Palomar’s clubs came out Feb. 19 to gauge interest and draw in new members. If you’re interested in joining a club this semester, here’s a list of a few that attended.

Ceramic Arts and Silicates Association

This club hosts visiting artists and performs fundraisers. During club rush they had a live performance in the quad and sold finished pieces.

The funds raised will go to sending students on a field trip to a National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts conference on March 24 in Richmond, VA.

They will host another fundraiser titled Throw-A-Thon sometime in April. Meeting dates are to be announced.

Anime and Manga Club

Meets from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Mondays and 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays in SU 204.

Meetings consist of watching anime and hanging out with people who share a common interest.

Math Club

Meets from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Fridays in F7.

Their goal is to get people interested and engaged in math because they believe “math is like music.”

Members will be attending the HWY 78 Math competition from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Puente Club

Meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Puente Club’s goal is to increase the amount of latinos in higher education.

Their meetings consist of watching movies with subject matter relevant to the club and occasionally hosting guest speakers.

The Puente Club operates in several junior colleges and universities.

Theatre Club

Meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays in PAC 127.

Meetings consist of workshops, improv, and games. “A place to find friends and love theatre.”

Tech Club

Meets from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays in room MD-232. This club is for those interested in programming, soldering, electronics, computer networking, and hacking/cybersec.

They have plans for a coding competition called “hyperthon” towards the middle of the semester, the date is to be announced.
