Belching Beaver Brewery, a local Vista brewery, is known for its most popular drink: the Peanut Butter Milk Stout.
The Taste Test
This sweet beer has a strong taste of coffee with a hint of chocolate and its smooth and light finish makes it easy to drink. It’s not a strong beer, with an ABV of only 5.3.
The chocolate and the coffee taste complement each other perfectly and the peanut butter aftertaste and aroma leaves you satisfied and wanting more.
The Making of the Stout
Beer expert Karye Wallace, from Belching Beaver, explained that they brew this beer by using a chocolate malt and a peanut butter extract that is safe for people with peanut allergies.
Wallace explained how they make the Peanut Butter Milk Stout and here’s how:
- The brewers place the grains in the mash tun to extract the sugar into liquid form.
- Then, transferred to the boiler, where the hops are then added.
- Finally, the stout sits in the fermenting tank for two weeks until it is ready to be served.
Where To Buy It
The Peanut Butter Milk Stout is sold at local grocery stores and on tap at various restaurants and bars. There are also two locations:
- Vista brewery (production center and tasting room)
- North Park location (tasting room)
