Electronic music reverberates across campus

Electronic music reverberates across campus

Students will be performing Electronic Music on Nov. 17 in the Performance Lab, and it will be directed by Professor Madelyn Byrne.

There will be two concerts going on that day, which will be the concert hour “which will be a little bit shorter,” Madelyn Byrne said. Then there will be a longer one during the evening. For the concert students will be performing their own composed music that they have been writing and putting together throughout this semester.

Professor Byrne said, “This is kind of like their final project and so the students, completing and composing their music and then arrange to have it performed or perform it themselves.”

The types of genres that will be performed by the students varies with many different. There is chamber music, electronic dance music, jazz, blending of styles, all types of different types of genre of music that will be performed. There will also be acoustic pieces, electronic pieces, and some pieces that even use video.

“One of the things that we endeavor for in the class is to help students is to find their individual voices. So you will be hearing that on Thursday.”

For the concert there will be nine composers but more students will be involved with this concert because there are also student performers involved, which means that their will be a lot more people involve in the concert on Thursday.

“I’m looking at the list so this one is classical influenced chamber music, the next one is kind of metal influenced and its using computer playback. There are a couple that are influenced by different metal genres. This guy does electronic dance music. There is another one that is kind of classical influenced, she does jazz influenced music,” Byrnes said when looking at the list of composers.
