Palomar’s Governing Board unanimously voted Tuesday to not hire either of two presidential finalists who were chosen and publicly scrutinized earlier this month.

Board members issued a statement through Palomar’s Human Resources department that they are stopping the current search and will start over with a new one. They did not say why they were closing the search.

“In closed session, the Board took an action item to close the search for Superintendent/President of Palomar College,” the board said in a statement.

The two finalists were Dr. Lynn Neault, vice chancellor of Student Services in the San Diego Community College District, and Dr. Gregory Anderson, vice president of Instruction at Canada College.

The two finalists participated in a public forum on Nov. 6, where they discussed their qualifications and interest in Palomar College.

“I enjoyed learning about [Palomar College]. I enjoyed the whole process,” Dr. Neault said of the search process.

Dr. Anderson could not be reached for comment.

Palomar’s president position was left vacant when former president Robert Deegan retired earlier this year.

Vice President of Student Services Adrian Gonzales will continue to serve as the interim president and superintendent while the search process continues, according to a press release.
