We didn’t think it was possible, but the parking here at Palomar has gotten worse.
Parking has become sort of a trope here at Palomar. The first few weeks, it seems almost impossible to find a spot.
That parking situation might just have been made worse. There are now more staff parking spots in Lot 12.
Lot 12 is the primary student parking lot. It’s a big parking lot, granted. But we’re on a big campus.

We understand that the construction is necessary. A shiny new library will no doubt be an excellent addition to the campus.
But the fact of the matter is, now, it’s only hindering parking at our school.
The library is going where Lot 11 used to be. They’ve already uprooted Lot 11.
There were 68 staff parking spots in that lot. A neglible amount, maybe. But those 68 staff spots must have ended up somewhere else.
We noticed that the staff parking in Lot 12 has been extended by a few spots.
From the anecdotal evidence we’ve heard around the campus, parking is worse than previous semesters.
We applaud Palomar’s plan to build a parking structure. It’s about time.
But how long is it going to take? And how long will the parking situation be worse with all the construction going on?
In lieu of the parking structure, Palomar needs to figure out a more elegant solution.
