California Propositions

Proposition 2

Proposition 2 would authorize $10 billion worth of bond to build and repaid facilities at K-12 public schools and community colleges, like Palomar College.

Proposition 2 passed with a percentage of 59% yes and 41% no.

Proposition 3

Proposition 3 aimed to amend the California State Constitution to declare the right to marry as a fundamental right. The Proposition would repeal Proposition 8 from 2008 and give same-sex couples the right to marry legally in California.

Proposition 3 passed with a percentage of 63% yes and 37% no.

Proposition 4

Proposition 4 would authorize $10 billion worth of bonds for water, wildfire prevention, and land protection efforts.

Proposition 4 has passed with a percentage of 60% yes and 40% no.

Proposition 5

Proposition 5 would amend California's State Constitution to lower the vote needed to approve bonds for affordable housing and public infrastructure projects from a two-thirds majority to 55%.

Proposition 5 has not passed with percentage of 55% no and 45% yes.

Proposition 6

Proposition 6 would amend California's State Constitution to bar slavery in any form, repealing a current provision that allows involuntary servitude as a punishment for a crime.

Proposition 6 has not passed with a percentage or 53% no and 47% yes

Proposition 32

Proposition 32 would raise the minimum wage in California to $18 an hour beginning in 2025 for employers with more than 25 people and 2026 for all others.

Proposition 32 has not passed with a percentage of 51% no and 49% yes.

Proposition 33

Proposition 33 would have repealed a law banning rent control enacted in 1995, giving local governments the option to expand limits on rental rates for housing.

Proposition 33 has not passed with a percentage of 60% no to 40% yes.

Proposition 34

Proposition 34 would put a new set of rules in place to limit how certain healthcare entities can spend money earned from a federal discount drug program.

Proposition 34 has passed with a percentage of 51% yes to 49% no.

Proposition 35

Proposition 35 aimed to make an existing tax on managed health care insurance plans permanent. The tax provides funding for the state's Medical-Cal health care program.

Proposition 35 has passed with a percentage of 68% yes to 32% no.

Proposition 36

Proposition 35 aimed to increase penalties for repeated theft offenses and certain drug crimes. Additionally, it would create a drug court treatment program for people with multiple drug possession convictions.

Proposition 36 has passed with a percentage of 68% yes to 32% no.

Local Measures

Escondido Measure I

Measure I would raise sales tax by 1-cent to fund public safety and other City of Escondido services.

Measure I passed with a percentage of 61.12% yes and 38.88% no.

San Marcos Measure Q

Measure Q would raise sales tax by 1-cent to fund City of San Marcos services including public safety and infrastructure maintenance.

Measure Q passed with a percentage of 60.44% yes and 39.56% no.

San Marcos Measure JJ

Measure JJ would authorize $324 million in bond to repair and modernize older schools in the San Marcos Unified School District.

Measure JJ passed with a percentage of 57.77% yes and 42.23% no.

San Diego County Measure G

Measure G would raise sales tax by a half-cent to fund San Diego County transportation infrastructure, and safety projects.

Measure G did not pass with a percentage of 50.46% no and 49.54% yes
