Back in the 1960s and ’70s, Focus was an award-winning print magazine produced by Telescope staff, a place where student journalists could stretch beyond straight news into features, art, photos and more creative storytelling. For decades, those issues lived mostly in archives and memory, a snapshot of what campus life looked and felt like for an earlier generation of Comets.
Today’s Focus brings that spirit back in a new form: a student-made zine created by The Telescope staff. Our website moves fast with breaking news and campus updates. IMPACT goes big with long-form features and polished magazine layouts. Focus is something you can hold in your hands — shorter, more playful, zeroed-in — but still rooted in the real lives, concerns and joys of Palomar students.
Focus is made by student journalists for the Palomar community, in conversation with the past and very much aimed at the present.
