Palomar’s Men’s swimming team is once again ready to impress at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) this coming April. From there those who place high enough will move on to the State Championship.

Head Coach Jem McAdams, alongside Assistant Coach Scott Lawson, have started sculpting the team into shape with intense core workouts and basic technique workouts to sharpen their skills in the water.

Coach McAdams said,” They do a mixture of land and water workouts to strengthen their core as well as their strokes.”

Coach McAdams is excited for returning swimmer Dylan Van Horn, and newcomer Toby Fast to start training.

Toby Fast said, “I hope to place at state. Top ten!”

Van Horn is a returning swimmer who swims the 400 IM( Individual Medley Relay) and the 50 freestyle. Last year he placed third at the Pacific Coast Conference last year and is looking to take it a step further and place at state in the 400 medley race.

“I’m not really changing anything, just trying to take a more explosive approach,” said Van Horn when asked about his training.

Both Van Horn and Fast are both coming off of a great water polo season and are eager to build on their success in the water.

With core workouts and intense underwater drills the two boys along with the rest of the team will be ready to compete in no time.
