Palomar College softball remained competitive throughout the season, combining experienced leadership, offensive production, and strong pitching performances during both conference and non-conference play. The Comets competed against several of Southern California’s top community college programs and continued another postseason run during the year.
The season featured contributions on both sides of the field. Palomar relied on consistent offense, solid pitching and experienced returning players as the team remained among the stronger programs in California community college softball throughout the season.
Led by Head Coach Lacey Craft, the Comets entered the year following multiple postseason appearances in recent seasons. Palomar remained competitive throughout conference play while different players contributed in key moments during the season.
One of the team’s top offensive performers was sophomore infielder Alexis Huey. Huey became one of the program’s leading hitters and broke Palomar’s single-season home run record during the year. Her offensive production contributed to several important conference and postseason games and led to her receiving the title as player of the year.

“Being named player of the year means the world to me. I have been working so much behind the scenes during summer and fall to be able to have fun this season, and getting that recognition just gives me the confidence that i did everything that i needed to do,” Huey said.
Palomar’s offense remained productive throughout the season, with multiple players contributing across the lineup. The Comets consistently generated runs through timely hitting and aggressive baserunning during conference and non-conference competition.
Pitching also played an important role in the team’s success. Sophomore pitcher Kiara Flaviani emerged as one of the top pitchers in California community college softball during the season. Flaviani delivered several key performances throughout conference play and postseason competition while helping anchor Palomar’s pitching staff.
“Having the support of my teammates and coaching staff was a huge part of my success this year. Knowing that they all trusted me out there gave me so much confidence to perform,” Flaviani said.
Conference competition presented several challenges throughout the season as Palomar faced a demanding schedule against strong Southern California programs. The Comets remained consistent during much of the year by balancing offensive production with pitching and defensive play.
“If I had to describe the season in one word, it would be historic. We had one of the best winning percentages in Palomar softball history and won a state championship. All the girls and the whole team just made this a team that i will never forget,” Huey said.

The Comets headed to the 3C2A softball state championship tournament, held at Bakersfield College. The tournament started May 14 and ended May 17th, when Palomar College Comets defeated the Saddleback College Bobcats 13-0 and won the 2026 3C2A Softball State Championship.
“My mentality going out on the mound was to just trust my training and preparation. We had played a lot of games this season, so personally and as a team we were ready for anything,” Flaviani said.
“Winning the State Championship was so special, and being able to come back and win it all for our last game together as a team meant even more. We trained for games like these all season, and being able to see all that hard work pay off was great,” she added.
The title marked Palomar’s 11th season of winning the conference championship. They also ranked first overall in the entire 3C2A entering the postseason.
“The Comets pulled it off this week and won the 2026 State Title!” Coach Craft said.
The combination of offensive production, pitching depth, veteran leadership, and individual achievements helped shape another successful season for the Comets.
