Women’s golf moves closer to playoff berth

In a neutral site match at Woods Valley Golf Course in Valley Center, the Palomar women’s golf team moved one step closer toward qualifying for regionals.

The Comets, who normally host their home games at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, played host for this final regular season matchup of the nine teams in the Orange Empire Conference.

With Deanna Bird leading the way with a score of 79, the team finished fourth out of nine teams. College of the Desert won overall with a team score of 311, earning a 8-0 record for the match.

Palomar currently has a 48-32 conference record going into the championship, good enough for fourth in the conference. The top four teams in the OEC qualify for the Southern California regionals.
