Baseball season officially began on Jan. 23, with Palomar beating the Golden West Rustlers 22-7. The Comets are now 6-1 as they head into their eighth game of the season.
Despite the season being fresh and new, the team’s leadership remains the same.
Head Coach Ben Adams is entering his 22nd year coaching at Palomar. After holding various coaching positions on the baseball team, Adams has held the position of head coach since 2018.
The Comets have consistently reached the conference championship in the past four seasons, and Adams led the team to the final four in the 2022 state championships.
This season, Palomar baseball will continue to host games alongside various nonprofit organizations (NPOs), such as the Vs. Cancer foundation. An NPO that raises money and awareness for families battling childhood cancer.
The players wore gold jerseys for the “Comets Vs. Cancer” game on Jan. 31. Everyone who attended was encouraged to wear gold as well.

On Feb. 5, the Comets suffered their first loss, falling 10-7 to the Saddleback Bobcats. But on Feb. 6, the Comets jumped back into the win column after beating the Fullerton Hornets 22-5.
There is a long season ahead, and questions to be asked: Will they reach another conference championship? Will Ben Adams continue to find success?
