To apply or not apply; why going straight to a 4 year is outdated

Whether it's through pop culture or from teachers and parents, going to a 4-year school has always been portrayed as the dream for students. However, now, with the current socioeconomic climate, the worth of going straight to these institutions might not be the same as it was before.
