On Oct. 25, the Palomar College wrestling team showed its dominance in the sport, claiming three weight classes on the way to winning the Meathead Movers tournament hosted by Cuesta College.
The Comets, currently ranked seventh in the state, also won in team scoring, beating out Mt. SAC (#3 in the state), host Cuesta (#4 in the state) and Northern California duals champion Chabot College of Hayward (#6 in the state).
Freshman Alex Graves, No. 1 in the state in the 184-pound weight class, cut down to the 174-pound class for this tournament, and went undefeated, pinning down Santa Ana’s Micah Macias in the finals. With the win, Graves has now won in three separate weight classes: 174, 184 and 194 pounds.
Freshman Erik Collin, currently ranked fifth in the state in the 165-pound weight class, and Cody Doyle (157 pounds) also took home first place honors in their respective weight classes.
