SAN MARCOS — Palomar College staff, faculty, and students join statewide “March for March” rallies to advocate for public education funding.
The Palomar College Council of Classified Employees (CCE) and the Palomar Faculty Federation (PFF) will host their “March in March” solidarity action at 12:30 p.m. on March 12 in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Plaza. The march will be part of a statewide movement to demand investment in programs and campus systems to better support community college students and workers.
“Public education is one of the most powerful tools our communities have,” organizers from CCE and PFF said in a press release. “When we invest in our classrooms and programs, we invest in the future of California; in opportunity, equity, and student success.”
The march will include a brief rally in front of the LRC, a campus solidarity walk, and a community lunch held at the EDGE Center. CCE and PFF welcome students, educators, and community members to join the rally in a show of solidarity.
The “March is March” campaign calls for affordable, accessible and high-quality public education, along with climate-resilient and equitable investments across California’s education system. The local action also emphasizes key priorities such as securing cost-of-living-adjustments (COLA), filling critical campus vacancies and investing in programs that directly support students and the broader community.
“Our campuses thrive when workers, students, and community members stand together,” CCE and PFF said. “This is about building the future we want to see; stronger schools, stronger communities, and real investment in the people who make education possible.”
