California Propositions

Proposition 2

Proposition 2 would authorize $10 billion worth of bond to build and repaid facilities at K-12 public schools and community colleges, like Palomar College.

Proposition 3

Proposition 3 aimed to amend the California State Constitution to declare the right to marry as a fundamental right. The Proposition would repeal Proposition 8 from 2008 and give same-sex couples the right to marry legally in California.

According to the Associated Press, Proposition 3 has passed with a 61% majority and the California Constitution will be amended.

Proposition 4

Proposition 4 would authorize $10 billion worth of bonds for water, wildfire prevention, and land protection efforts.

According to the Associated Press, Proposition 4 has passed with 57.9% majority.

Proposition 5

Proposition 5 would amend California's State Constitution to lower the vote needed to approve bonds for affordable housing and public infrastructure projects from a two-thirds majority to 55%.

Proposition 6

Proposition 6 would amend California's State Constitution to bar slavery in any form, repealing a current provision that allows involuntary servitude as a punishment for a crime.

Proposition 32

Proposition 32 would raise the minimum wage in California to $18 an hour beginning in 2025 for employers with more than 25 people and 2026 for all others.

Proposition 33

Proposition 33 would have repealed a law banning rent control enacted in 1995, giving local governments the option to expand limits on rental rates for housing.

According to the Associated Press, Proposition 33 has not passed with a 61.6% no vote.

Proposition 34

Proposition 34 would put a new set of rules in place to limit how certain healthcare entities can spend money earned from a federal discount drug program.

Proposition 35

Proposition 35 aimed to make an existing tax on managed health care insurance plans permanent. The tax provides funding for the state's Medical-Cal health care program.

According to the Associated Press, Proposition 35 has passed with a 66.8% majority vote.

Proposition 36

Proposition 35 aimed to increase penalties for repeated theft offenses and certain drug crimes. Additionally, it would create a drug court treatment program for people with multiple drug possession convictions.

According to the Associated Press, Proposition 36 has passed with a 70.4% majority vote.

Local Measures

Escondido Measure I

Measure I would raise sales tax by 1-cent to fund public safety and other City of Escondido services.

San Marcos Measure Q

Measure Q would raise sales tax by 1-cent to fund City of San Marcos services including public safety and infrastructure maintenance.

San Marcos Measure JJ

Measure JJ would authorize $324 million in bond to repair and modernize older schools in the San Marcos Unified School District.

San Diego County Measure G

Measure G would raise sales tax by a half-cent to fund San Diego County transportation infrastructure, and safety projects.
