A former Palomar student and baseball player is headed to Petco Park.

Pitcher Nick Vincent will join the San Diego Padres on May 18 when they play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at home.

After a day full of roster changes and adjustments that ended with a dislocated shoulder from newcomer James Darnell, Vincent became the latest player called up from the Padres’ minor league system.

Vincent was the first to break the news on Twitter to Padres fans.

The news was tweeted around 12:15 a.m. early Friday morning and Padres fans quickly took notice.

Fans considered it confirmation when minor league teammate Jorge Reyes also jumped on the news.

Vincent, a Ramona High graduate, played baseball for Palomar before heading to Long Beach State to continue on his path to the majors. Vincent was drafted in the 18th round of the 2008 draft by the Padres.

The Padres have not made an official announcement.
