Palomar women’s track and field team competed with athletes from two and four year universities at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge hosted by UCSD on March 10, 2012.  

Palomar placed sixth out of eight teams competing in the 18 events scored at the meet.  Participating schools included UC San Diego, San Diego State, Cal State San Maros, Point Loma, San Diego Mesa, Cuyamaca and Southwestern.  Palomar athletes competed in 13 of the 18 events.

Palomar sophomore Elena Jefferson had a successful day at the meet and placed in the four events she competed in.  Jefferson placed 3rd in the triple jump with a winning jump of 10.74 meters and tied for 3rd place in the long jump with a distance of 5.44 meters.  On the track Jefferson placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.12 and 4th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.70.

Long distance runner Kathryn Bouvette finished the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:49.64 placing sixth out of the 23 runners.

The Palomar women’s track and field team will compete next at the SDSU meet on March 16, 2012.
